Don’t Just Tell Us, Show Us
Social media postings that contain a visual aspect (images or videos) are sure to go further than those with text alone. This may seem a no-brainer but given the number of postings we continue to see, we thought it might be time for a refresher to help steer the ship to the path that will best serve future goals for your brand.
By including a visual, you may earn your posting as much as 2.5 times more views than with text alone. This thought process doesn't stop with updates on various social outlets however and includes items like this blog posting. Including images brings visual appeal and can actually improve the length of time the content is retained by the user.
Consider these thoughts before hitting submit on your updates:
- Visuals help users retain information longer than those with text alone.
- Some visuals may help users feel more connected to you or your brand. By sharing images of videos of your team, your work, your product, you are bringing a touch of what makes your brand special to your audience.
- Your audience may scroll right past your update but when paired with an appealing, quality image or video, this ccan grab attention and causes pause.
- Your postings are more likely to be shared if paired with a visual.
With this thought process in mind, what are some ways to get creative with visuals?
- Promote your products: Who wants to buy what they can't first see? This is a great way to sell more!
- Promote your team or your customer base: Put up fun photos of your team or your customers engaging with your brand or just having fun in everyday life situations. The options are only limited by your imagination. The bonus to this when using your team is that it gives a personal connection and shows that you are human! It takes the mystery and mechanics out of the equation and brings a face (and a smile) to the user.
- Promote your events: Share images of past events when preparing for the current or images of what to expect. It is a great way to build excitement and get more people interested.
- Promote your message: Saying we are here for you and showing we are here for you are two different things. Show your fanbase firsthand what your business is about.
- Promote your appreciation: what a great way to say "thank you" or "we appreciate you".
